HOOSIER PARK EXPANDS STAKES SCHEDULE

July 30, 2010 - Hoosier Park is expanding its stakes schedule for both the Quarter Horses and Thoroughbreds in 2010. Nine Quarter Horse and 18 Thoroughbred stakes will be contested during the 63-day meet that runs through Sunday, October 24.

On the Quarter Horse side of the stakes schedule, several new stakes have been added this season.

The Quarter Horse Stakes season begins Sunday, August 22, with the $100,000-guaranteed QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Futurity and the $50,000-guaranteed QHRAI Stallion Service Auction Derby. Both events are in their 13th year of competition.

Also new is the $100,000 Gordon Mobley Futurity set for Sunday, September 19. The final weekend of racing for 2010 will be loaded with stakes races for Quarter Horses as Saturday, October 23, will feature the $100,000 Sterlie Bertram Memorial, the $75,000-added QHRAI Derby and the $100,000-added Hoosier Park Classic.

The final day of racing, Sunday, October 24 will be highlighted by the $100,000-added Miss Roxie Little Futurity, the $75,000-added Governor's Stakes, and the $70,000-added Bradford Stakes. The Bradford Stakes for 3-year-olds and up running at a distance of 350 yards, is part of the John Deere Bonus Challenge and will include $10,000 from that series in the final purse.
