July 30, 2010 - Gerald Rich's GJR Delightful won the inaugural Halter Mania event for racing yearlings consigned to the TQHA Yearling Sale on July 30-31.
The Royal Shake Em filly, consigned by Deer Haven Farms, first won her divisional filly class, earning a $500 first-place check, before going on to win the grand champion prize. The consigner won a trip for two to the Bank of America Challenge Championships in New Orleans, which he can keep or give to the buyer of the filly. Her accomplishment will noted on her AQHA records.
GJR Delightful is hip No. 187, and she will sell early on Saturday morning. The filly is out of Hickity Delight by Sovreign Mexicano. She is half sister to Grade 1 winner GJR Snowman (by This Snow Is Royal, $132,562), who won the Manor Downs Futurity (G1) and is contesting the Adequan Sam Houston Derby Challenge (G3) on Saturday night at Sam Houston. Hickity Delight is a full sister to multiple stakes winner Hickity Smith and a half sister to stakes winner Hammersmith. GJR Delightful is eligible for the TQHA Sale Futurity.
The winner of the colt division, and the $500 prize, was RC Kool. Consigned by Todd Anonuk for R C Running Horses, RC Kool is by First N Kool out of the Calyx mare Movinstraighttoglory. The colt is a half brother to TQHA Futurity (R) winner Movin Sixes. His dam is a full sister to stakes winner and graded stakes-placed runner Glory Be Movin. RC Kool is hip No. 58, and sells Friday morning. RC Kool is eligible for the TQHA Sale Futurity.
Winners Man won the gelding division and earned $500. He was consigned by Granada Farms for Michael Amburn. Sired by Winners Award, Winners Man is out of the Man In The Money mare Oro Rose. The gelding's dam is a half sister to graded stakes winner Oro O Toole (by Jody O TOole, $57,590) and stakes-placed Plataoro (by System, $69,065). Winners Man is hip No. 240, and he will sell on Saturday. Winners Man is eligible for the TQHA Sale Futurity and is nominated to the Bank of America Racing Challenge.
